One Week In!

Hello Laurel Mountain Ski Club Friends and Members!

Ski and Snowboard season is officially here, and we are a full week into it! All of you have been to the mountain already know how incredible the conditions have been. The snow is fantastic, and the crew at Laurel has crushed it, getting all the terrain with snowmaking available starting opening day. If you see a member of the mountain team be sure to thank them!

I’m sitting in the lodge on Friday morning as I write this update, already having taken several runs down Broadway and Wildcat - it’s another gorgeous blue bird day. If you haven’t gotten out yet this year, we hope to see you soon

Barn Bash Recap

Last Saturday Laurel Mountain Ski Club kicked off the 2024-2025 season in style with the 2nd Annual/1st Official Pray For Snow Barn Bash at The Barn at Ligonier Valley. The evening featured a basket raffle, drinks from Unity Brewing, food from Simply Good and Kill Devil Meals as well as music from Hot Liquor Tun, and headliners Flower Child. Turnout was fantastic, and the evening was a big success! Thank you to everyone who attended, danced, ate, signed up for the club, and donated. It was fantastic to se you all!

After School Slope Days Reminder

There is still a little bit of time to sign your kids up for afterschool skiing at Laurel Mountain through the Slope Days program! We have a 3-week session in January, and another in February. Signups are open through the first of the year, and the program includes a group lesson, life ticket, and equipment rental each week. For more information check out our slope days information page here.

Membership Update

We are pleased to share that we currently have over 60 registered members in the club. For anyone who has yet to sign up, we have a membership level to fit anyone’s level of interest, from Social Memberships, to Senior Memberships, and even Junior Memberships for kids under 18. Check out our options and levels on our membership page here.

We also have a nominee for Laurel Mountain Ski Club Secretary - those of you who are senior members or associate members who have voting rights, can look for an email calling for a virtual vote. We will announce the outcome once the vote is complete.

A Little Bit of History

The maps that have been posted in the Support Laurel Mountain State Park Ski Area facebook page have been such a hit with everyone, that I wanted to share some other historical artifacts we uncovered with everyone as well. Here is the letter from the original Iteration of Laurel Mountain Ski Club, announcing the 1949-1950 season. As we continue the work of stewarding this community for future generations, we always want to remember the work of those in the past that made it possible for us all to enjoy this mountain as we do today.

Thank you to all our members, donors, and volunteers. We have started the season strong, and it’s only just begun! Please keep sharing the club with your friends and families, sport those club stickers on your helmets and other gear, continue and tell us your ideas and hopes for the club, and don’t stop saying hi to club leadership on the hill and in the lodge! Matt, Amanda, Tom, Zoe, Derek and I love to see you all and talk about the club!

We’ll see you on the slopes.

Zach - LMSC President
